Visualization, Transferability and Case Study Design

3D Visualizations developed in WP3 serve as a communication medium in the Living Lab process (WP2). For evaluating the transferability of approaches, visualizations are developed for two study areas (Zurich, Vienna). Following methods developed at ETH, 3D digital models of the defined urban areas will be generated using the Unity game engine (https://unity.com), 3D point clouds, shape files and raster data for interactive, prompt and precise representation of the status quo, scenario designs, and respective modeling results. The visualization tool will support scenario design proposals by urban design students, who are important multipliers of the new methods (Fricker et al. 2024), as well as analysis, evaluation and co-creation of case study designs with stakeholders (WP2). The scenarios and designs will also serve as input for the modeling process (WP6), which in turn provides indicators for analyzing impacts on and interactions of the three key topics. The latter are combined with the 3D visualizations to effectively communicate and further discuss challenges, opportunities and possible solutions.
