Pre-Case Study | Training area

The case study area within the Munich administrative boundary served as a testing ground for model development. Munich, a dense European city, is known for its extensive urban green space “Englischer Garten” while 17 % of its area is covered by traffic infrastructure (Statistisches Amt der Landeshauptstadt München, 2024) potentially fragmenting green spaces. This makes it an interesting testing ground for assessing the barrier impact of traffic infrastructure on urban wildlife.
