Study Areas

The project includes multiple study areas to reflect the diverse expertise of its international partners and to build on tools developed through previous collaborations. Supported by a transnational SME in the DACH region, the different locations allow methods and results to be tested for transferability to other cities, while university partners contribute interdisciplinary research and teaching.

The case study areas within the 4 partner cities have been selected on the basis of similar urban planning conditions - such as high density, high levels of surface sealing and the urgent need for action. A focus has been set on areas where the models used within CoCoNet already have been applied and further developed.

The case studies are divided into:

a) pre-case studies for Erfurt and Munich to identify interactions and trade-offs between the individual key factors and as training areas for the respective models (refinement, adjustment, further development)

b) fully integrated case studies for Vienna and Zurich identifying synergies between all 4 key topics in close cooperation with the stakeholders from all partner cities
