Vienna

Fully integrated case study

For the Vienna study area, a section of the Wien River between the U4 stations Meidling Hauptstraße and Längenfeldgasse in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus and Meidling has been selected. The area is characterised by a dense urban structure, limited green space, high traffic volumes, and strong exposure to urban heat effects, alongside social challenges related to income levels and public infrastructure.

At the same time, its central location, proximity to the Wien River, nearby green spaces such as Schönbrunn Palace and Auer-Welsbach Park, and underused urban areas offer strong transformation potential. The area is representative of many inner-city districts along the Wiental and provides a suitable test case for climate-resilient and people-oriented urban development strategies.
