The CoCoNet project addresses a gap relevant to urban planning that requires research extending well beyond the project's scope: the siloed landscape of urban planning disciplines. Recognizing this challenge, we aim to spark further discussion and research on integrated science-based urban planning. To this end, we presented first key insight at the annual conference of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland while we also plan to publish a perspective paper examining how to measure the multifunctionality of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in ways that extend beyond current siloed approaches. We thus target scientists as well as practitioners from various disciplines working in the field of urban planning.
